girl with large pumpkin

Are your kids all excited about Halloween? Ours are! Even the teens can't wait to dress up and go to Halloween parties.

Yesterday we went to a local farm and got this great pumpkin. Is your family carving pumpkins this year?

Here are some Halloween ideas:

* If you're worried about combining jack-o-lantern candles and little ones, use the new battery-operated votive candles. They flicker like real candles.

* On Halloween night, replace your flood lights with orange, purple or green ones. You can find them at any home improvement store. It's a cheap and easy way to be Halloween-y!

* More e-z decor: Hide battery-operated revolving "disco lights" in your bushes or just inside your door.

* Kids costumes not reflective enough? Cut reflective tape in random small squares and triangles and scatter it over their costumes, especially on their arms and lower legs -- the parts that move the most and catch the light. The idea is to maximize the amount of area that can catch the eye of a driver.

* Get some glow necklaces at a party store or your local skating rink. Kids will happily wear these with any costume.

More about Halloween tomorrow!
